The Galactic Empire meets the Yuuzhan Vong

An intact Empire could meet the Vong with a unified supply network, improved fighters and superweapons suited to destroying worldships.

Question

What if the Galactic Empire survived to fight the Yuuzhan Vong, and how useful would its Death Stars be?

Short answer

It would probably perform better initially because of its logistics and superweapons, while twenty years of further fighter development could improve its equipment.

Notes

The scenario assumes that the Empire survives its confrontation with the rebels and has another twenty years or so to develop. Its centralized logistics would put it in a stronger position than the New Republic, while its superweapons are considered particularly suitable for destroying Vong worldships. A common equipment and supply network can make an imperfect fighter a practical choice across an enormous fleet. TIE fighter survivability remains a concern, although continued development could produce upgraded variants with basic shields by the time of the invasion. The expected result is a stronger initial Imperial performance and a substantially different war, without a definite prediction of its outcome.
