Where do you see the future destroyers going?
Short answerOne proposed future keeps a heavily armed destroyer or frigate at the centre of a small group of uncrewed escorts that add missiles and possibly radar capacity.
NotesThe proposed arrangement keeps a well-armed destroyer or frigate as the core warship. Its uncrewed companions would take roles comparable to the escort destroyers, frigates, and sloops supporting World War II task groups. The suggested scale is three or four large uncrewed surface vessels per destroyer or frigate, carrying missiles and possibly radars. The crewed ship retains its own radar, missiles, and other systems. The escorts therefore add capability while the main ship remains a viable warship if communications with them fail.
