The destroyer design discussion turns from raw armament to the quality of its fire-control system. The Fuze Keeping Clock introduced in the Tribal class gives a small ship much greater accuracy for its size. Better fire control makes the same battery more effective against its targets. Gun count alone therefore cannot measure a destroyer's fighting power.
