A naval funeral, a large estate, and an extinct barony

Collingwood returns home only after death, receives a state naval funeral, and leaves wealth to daughters who cannot inherit his title.

Notes

Collingwood died aboard Ville de Paris off Port Mahon before his planned voyage home could begin. His body traveled through Chatham and up the Thames, lay in state at Greenwich Hospital, and was buried beside Nelson in St Paul's Cathedral. His estate was valued at £160,000, including £40,000 for each daughter. Because the barony could descend only through a male heir, the title became extinct despite the substantial family inheritance he arranged.
