An uncrowded museum visit does not reproduce HMS Victory at full complement. Open decks can feel spacious when only small groups of visitors move through them. Filling the same spaces with the people required to sail, fight, repair, and support the ship would make them immediately claustrophobic. Even HMS Warrior feels comparatively palatial beside Victory, although neither should be judged only from a modern walk-through. The comparison gives a more physical sense of Age of Sail shipboard life.

A full crew made HMS Victory feel claustrophobic
Modern visitors can mistake an uncrowded museum ship for a spacious vessel, while its historical complement would have filled the decks and made movement far more confined.
