Prussia built a navy after failing to secure the Royal Navy support Frederick wanted, but the more experienced Swedish force won at Frisches Haff. Sweden possessed one of the Baltic's better-trained naval establishments, so the immediate tactical result was unsurprising. Victory did not make Sweden safe: without enough troops to face the Prussian army, the Swedes had incentives to seek a return to pre-war arrangements. Sea success can therefore alter a campaign without removing the limits imposed by land power.

Frisches Haff: a naval victory with limits
Sweden's Baltic success over Prussia could not overcome the land-war problem that made holding a forward position dangerous.
