Keeping a small frigate out of a heavy battle

The game illustrates attempts to divide a stronger enemy and approach from an angle, followed by a comparison with frigates' place in fleet battles.

Notes

In the game, a much smaller ship first tries to split the opposing force. If that fails, approaching from an angle and moving around the enemy's stern offer alternatives to remaining exposed to the heavier ships. One player also uses distance to reduce the chance of being hit. Alex Clarke compares his ship's peripheral position with a frigate waiting outside the fighting between larger rated ships for a suitable opponent. The comparison draws on the Age of Sail, while the immediate manoeuvres and hit chances belong to the game.
