Separating frigate command from the line of battle

A two-part fleet gives one admiral the frigates and another the ships of the line, matching command to distinct tactical functions.

Notes

The campaign gives a rear admiral the frigates and a vice admiral the line of battle. The frigate force contains fifth and sixth rates, while the battle force centres on third rates with a possible second rate for extra firepower. Scouting and cruising ships perform different work from heavy units meant to stand in the line. Dividing command by function can also make a mixed fleet easier to handle before battle begins.
