Friends of HMCS Haida is the charity supported by this recording. Its purpose is to look after Haida, with donations directed to that work. A later recollection identifies her as the last surviving Tribal-class destroyer and mentions volunteers who work on her engines. The preservation appeal centres on maintaining the ship and supporting the people caring for her.
