Why do we hear so little about France's other cruiser projects?
Short answerThey were not built, and France's rapid collapse in 1940 ended the programs before they could produce an operational legacy.
NotesThe simplest problem is that the projects were never built. France moved from preparing to continue the war to governmental collapse and surrender in only a few weeks. That abrupt break prevented normal design development, construction, and operational experience. Later histories consequently have fewer ships, crews, and campaigns through which to tell the story of the abandoned cruiser plans.
