Did France design a pure battlecruiser?

Did France ever design or build a pure battlecruiser?

France considered pure battlecruiser designs but never ordered one.

The concise closing answer distinguishes design consideration from procurement. French planners explored pure battlecruiser concepts on paper. Those studies did not produce an authorized ship or a laid-down hull. France therefore considered the type without ever placing a pure battlecruiser in the ordered construction program.
