French escorts and submarines across several seas

Destroyers, sloops, minelayers and submarines supported imperial routes, coastal waters and Allied convoys.

Notes

French destroyers, avisos or sloops, minelayers and submarines formed a widely distributed force. Their stations supported anti-submarine operations and coastal convoys. They could also cover shipping between Britain and France, farther into the Atlantic and within the Mediterranean. Submarines and large destroyers were a substantial part of the Mediterranean force, alongside the better-known capital ships.
