French escorts keep British destroyers with the battle fleet

French cruisers can cover distant convoys while large contre-torpilleurs screen fast hunting groups in heavy Atlantic weather.

Notes

Extra French ships improve Allied distribution as well as total numbers. Large contre-torpilleurs can accompany capital ships in rough Atlantic conditions much as British Tribal-class destroyers did. French cruisers can take distant escort assignments that historically pulled British vessels away from the main fleet. The resulting hunting groups are stronger because Britain no longer has to spread every suitable destroyer and cruiser across the convoy map.
