The French advance stalls as the expedition breaks apart

Tate established a headquarters at Trehowel Farm, but looting and dispersal reduced his effective force to about 600 men.

Notes

Lieutenant St. Leger occupied Trehowel Farm with a French detachment, giving Tate a headquarters about a mile inland. By the next morning, French troops had reached rocky high ground roughly two miles from the landing site, with a view over the surrounding country. Men sheltering in Llanwnda Church burned a Bible and pews for warmth. Meanwhile the expedition's dispersal left only about 600 troops under effective control, undermining its ability to exploit those positions.
