The T-class submarine HMS Tuna was large enough to carry the Cockle Mark II canoes. Raikes's orders called for a party of about twelve officers and men to attack blockade runners around Bordeaux with limpet mines and then escape overland to Spain. He objected to that final requirement and wanted the raiders to return to his submarine. He even proposed moving upriver to meet them, but others feared that Tuna would be unable to get out again. His report closed with strong admiration for the Marines he had delivered.
