Four conditions for a better Gallipoli

The campaign critique lists intelligence, surprise, ship preparation, and synchronized troops as the missing requirements.

Notes

A better Gallipoli operation required accurate intelligence obtained before the attack, tighter secrecy, ships prepared for mine damage, and troops arriving with the naval advance. Bombarding the defences to discover their strength exposed the fleet to danger and warned the enemy. Responsibility for keeping the operation secret extended to Churchill and the local commanders. Waiting for the soldiers would also have created time to modify the older battleships. In this interpretation, those changes could have turned Gallipoli into a textbook amphibious operation and a victory. The actual campaign inflicted severe losses on Australian, New Zealand and British troops.
