Formidable resumed flying six hours after a kamikaze hit

HMS Formidable recovered from the squadron's most serious kamikaze hit sufficiently to operate aircraft again six hours later. Aboard Indomitable during another attack, Vian watched the air battle overhead without realizing that his own flagship had been struck. The attacker hit the flight deck and bounced over the side before its bomb exploded, causing little structural damage. It nevertheless damaged the ship's radar, so the limited damage to the hull and flight deck did not leave every combat system unharmed.
