Foresight spent her early service in reserve before leading the Second Destroyer Flotilla, then serving with the Third and Sixth. Between 1911 and 1912, nine 4-inch guns replaced her original main battery. Four guns on each broadside and one on the quarterdeck gave her as many as five bearing to either side. Reduced to reserve again in 1912, she still managed to collide with the destroyer HMS Falcon in November 1913. War brought service with Dover Patrol, later duty with the Sixth Light Cruiser Squadron on the Humber, deployment to the Aegean, and a role in the response to Britannic's loss. Her work at the Yser is the clearest example of what the refitted scout could still contribute.
