What changes if Renown, Repulse, Glorious, and their escorts reach the Far East together?
Short answerCarrier fighters and a stronger combined force could keep the ships alive, force a Japanese response, and reshape early Allied command choices.
NotesFighter cover and a carrier are the crucial additions to Force Z. Glorious could bring radar-equipped air warning and fighters that make the Japanese strike far less likely to destroy the surface group. Renown, Repulse, the carrier, and their escorts would then form the nucleus of a substantial ABDA task force that might attract an American carrier as reinforcement. The counterfactual changes Allied force concentration and command options across Southeast Asia along with the survival of two capital ships.
