Concentration requires dispersed forces to work together

Corbett's concentration principle depends on dispersed forces being able to unite, while modern fleets must coordinate several layers of systems.

Notes

Corbett's principle of concentration allows forces to remain dispersed provided they can unite readily at the required point. Modern fleets face that problem at several levels, from task forces and task groups to individual ships. A ship's anti-submarine and air-defence suites each contain several systems, including different missiles and guns. Those layers have to work together for the larger force to function.
