Ten Temptress-class and fifteen Action-class patrol gunboats gave the US Navy experienced escort hulls when its own anti-submarine force was under pressure. Their British flower names were replaced with names such as Tenacity, Intensity, Courage, and Restless to suit American practice. Individual ships then escorted convoys from Trinidad, Boston, New York, and Charleston, and some continued into long postwar civilian careers.
