Floating docks would move forward with the fleet

Sydney would gain floating-dock reinforcement, while mobile naval-base units carried repair capacity forward as Britain retook Hong Kong and established itself at Weihaiwei.

Notes

Auxiliary floating dry docks would reinforce the expanded Sydney base. A floating dock historically assigned to Singapore also belonged to a wider mobile-support concept. Mobile naval-base units were intended to accompany the advancing fleet rather than remain permanently at the theater-entry base. Their purpose was to restore support at Hong Kong and then help establish the operating base at Weihaiwei closer to Japan.
