Matching the ships an opponent can deploy

Fleet planning compares deployable forces, with larger fleets gaining some efficiency in the total hulls needed.

Notes

Fleet requirements depend on how many ships an opponent can make available and how quickly one's own navy must match them. In the example, an opponent able to gather six ships with warning calls for a twelve-ship fleet to match that force routinely. If an ally supplies the opponent with another four ships, the estimated requirement rises to eighteen rather than twenty. Two groups of nine can each usually provide five available ships. These are illustrative planning estimates: fleet size and operational availability do not increase in a fixed one-to-three ratio.
