Ernest King's 1938 attack during Fleet Problem XIX repeated the use of carriers against Hawaii. Aircraft launched from about 100 miles away and struck Hickam Field, Wheeler Field and Pearl Harbor Naval Station. The stated attack time is 04:50 on 29 March. Because that date fell on a Tuesday, darkness supplied the advantage that a later Sunday attack could obtain from relaxed routines. The simulated strike again inflicted devastating damage on the island's military facilities.
