Fjord warfare shaped the follow-on raid force

Confined Norwegian fjords favored cruisers, large destroyers, and motor torpedo boats across a growing series of raids.

Notes

Confined Norwegian waters and fjord approaches resembled operating conditions in the Mediterranean. Arethusa-class cruisers, Tribal-class destroyers, other large destroyers, and motor torpedo boats therefore became prominent in later operations. The sequence after Claymore included Gauntlet, Anklet, Archery, Musketoon, Freshman, Cartoon, Crackers, Brandy, Roundabout, and Checkmate. The length of that list makes Claymore the start of a sustained maritime special-operations campaign in Norway.
