Chapter ยท 37:23-41:35

Eleven ships and a self-supporting convoy

The complete roster combines two warships, six transports, and three storeships with their crews, Marines, and convicts.

Notes

Sirius and Supply formed the naval core of the convoy. Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales, and Scarborough carried male and female convicts, while Golden Grove, Fishburn, and Borrowdale carried stores. Marines guarded the expedition and the merchant crews operated the transports and storeships. All eleven ships reached Australia after voyages of roughly 250 to 252 days, although deaths occurred during the passage. Their arrival delivered the personnel, animals, equipment, and provisions needed to begin the settlement.
