Designing the first American battlecruiser

The campaign finally produces an American battlecruiser by balancing beam, armor, speed, a six-gun broadside, and turbine weight.

Notes

The completed design is compared with an early HMS Renown, combining capital-ship firepower with higher speed. It carries six guns on the broadside and turbine machinery, while beam, belt armour, deck protection, and trim are repeatedly adjusted to keep it within displacement. The fore-and-aft offset ends at 0.1 percent without giving up the intended fast-ship character. The finished hull reflects the compromises required to combine speed, firepower, and protection.
