Feuerlilie was a line-of-sight, radio-controlled project that struggled with engine, launch, and control problems from 1940 to 1945. Designers debated single-stage and two-stage arrangements, along with launch from a modified 88 mm gun or an oblique ramp. Numerous iterations never closed the gap between the project's ambition and a weapon that could enter service. Germany continued pursuing technical perfection as the war reduced the time and industrial capacity available to make the project work.
