The initial scheme orders as much jungle-warfare and artillery-control training as the available forces can absorb. Modern cruisers and submarines operate from Singapore, while Prince of Wales, Repulse, and the Indian Ocean convoy escorts are directed toward a Ceylon concentration. Sloops continue routine escort work and can also seed defensive minefields on the approaches. Aircraft, stores, and the heaviest land equipment are drawn toward positions where they can be protected and controlled. Together, these orders make the land, sea, and air measures parts of a single defence.
