Weapons and radar beyond the four cannon

Four 20 mm cannon remained central, but missiles, rockets, bombs, and the AN/APQ-94 radar gave the Crusader a much wider combat repertoire.

Notes

The Crusader's four 20 mm cannon remained its defining armament, but it carried a much broader weapons fit. Sidewinders and French Matra Magic missiles supported air combat, while AGM-12 Bullpup missiles, Zuni rocket pods, and conventional bombs extended the aircraft beyond a pure fighter role. Two fuselage missile stations and two underwing pylons provided the attachment points for that mixed load. The later AN/APQ-94 radar was a capable sensor for its period. These weapons and radar explain why the last gunfighter could perform more than close-range interception.
