A proposal to put Marine medium-force roles on one hull

Fitting a Centauro turret to SuperAV is suggested as one way to provide fire support while retaining a common Marine vehicle family.

Question

Should the USMC add CV90 or Centauro fire-support vehicles alongside its wheeled amphibious APCs?

Short answer

The proposal is to investigate fitting the Centauro's 120 mm turret to SuperAV, keeping the main medium-force roles on one vehicle family.

Notes

A 120 mm Centauro turret on the Marine Corps' SuperAV is proposed as an alternative to introducing another complete vehicle. The aim is a highly deployable medium force built around a common vehicle family. Command and control, air defence, fire support, troop movement and logistics would all use that platform. The Abrams remains the better tank in the comparison, while the argument for giving it up depends on achieving the broader standardisation.
