Escort destroyers and torpedo pressure

A torpedo-boat threat exposes the cost of poor escort positioning and the limits of relying on a battleship to dodge late.

Notes

A battleship is endangered by the sheer number of torpedo boats while its escorting destroyers are elsewhere. The escorts have been assigned to screen, yet they arrive only after the threat has closed. A screen has to be in position when the attack develops, rather than merely present somewhere in the formation. Later attempts to dodge torpedo warnings also expose the difference between seeing a threat and leaving enough time for a capital ship to turn. Within the game's exaggerated handling, torpedo defence still depends on spacing, reaction time, and fleet control.
