The planned series expanded to include Mitsumasa Yonai and the Italian admiral Ernesto Burzagli because some figures were too important to leave out. Both officers are presented as honourable figures who deserve to be remembered. Burzagli's stature is illustrated through his arrest by Fascists in the rump Italian Social Republic and their decision that killing him would be dangerously provocative. This watch point introduces naval leadership as a question of political character as well as wartime command.
