Why Elli's tactical lessons arrived too late

The opening frames Elli as a clear demonstration of speed, maneuver, and fire control whose wider influence was limited by its 1912 setting and obsolescent fleets.

Notes

The battle appears to reward the faster fleet, decisive maneuver, and better control of gunfire. Yet most of the ships were already products of the pre-dreadnought world, while battlecruisers and modern fire-control thinking had moved the leading navies beyond the lesson. Elli is therefore valuable as a compact tactical case without becoming a major driver of warship development. It shows how a regional action can confirm principles already recognized elsewhere without resetting the global design agenda.
