Chapter ยท 1:05:14-1:11:35

Edward turns idle forces into coastal defense

Edward organizes coastal forces and uses a strong intelligence network to learn when de la Cerda will sail.

Notes

Rather than disband forces during the truce, Edward deployed them along the coast and shifted his own base as the situation developed. His knowledge of enemy ships, commanders, preparations, and departure suggests excellent reporting from Flanders. The English wool trade gave local merchants a direct financial reason to pass information about raiders disrupting their income. Intelligence and commercial interest therefore reinforced the coastal mobilization that put the English fleet in position to intercept de la Cerda.
