Echo and Enterprise on global survey deployments

Echo-class ships use rotating crews for persistent deployments ranging from chart improvement to search operations and freedom-of-navigation missions.

Notes

Echo and Enterprise use a rotating manning system to keep forty-eight of seventy-two assigned personnel aboard and sustain long deployments. Their tasks have included improving charts, assisting the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, and operating in the Black Sea in support of Ukraine. They must also maintain detailed knowledge around submarine operating bases such as Faslane. These missions combine public hydrography, international assistance, naval signaling, and protection of strategically sensitive waters.
