Chapter · 16:14-20:18

The ships already available to build an Eastern Fleet

Two R-class battleships, Hermes, Allied cruisers, and older destroyers offer useful reinforcements, subject to repair and readiness limits.

Notes

The ships already in the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia provide a larger potential force than Prince of Wales and Repulse alone. Royal Sovereign and Revenge are old battleships on Indian Ocean escort duties, with a possible role in supporting the Malayan campaign. Hermes supplies a limited carrier option, while Allied cruisers and mostly older destroyers add further strength. Some ships need repair or time to work up before they can contribute. The Dutch coastal-defence ship mentioned at the end also suggests a possible bombardment group alongside the two R-class battleships.
