The ground-force tradeoff after an early Libyan victory

An early end to fighting in Libya might free troops and supplies, while denying them hard-won combat experience.

Notes

An early victory in Libya could give Allied troops more time to prepare for operations in Europe and reinforce distant garrisons. It would also remove much of the combat experience gained in the historical North African campaign. Fighting in Ethiopia and other theatres would continue, so the armies would retain opportunities to gain experience. The larger benefit would be less pressure to strip one garrison to reinforce another emergency. This depends on the projected defeat in Libya and the heavier damage expected from the enlarged Taranto strike.
