How earlier VLS adoption could change Type 45

The Sea Dart counterfactual extends to larger Type 45 magazines, earlier Mark 41 integration and room for later CAMM.

Notes

CAMM's later development is used to distinguish fitting a weapon at construction from reserving space for it. An established vertical-launch Sea Dart would also remove one stated reason for withholding further investment. The imagined Type 45 then combines its air-defence battery with Mark 41 cells for strike weapons and later CAMM integration. Several alternative forward and aft cell arrangements are explored rather than one settled specification. Those alternatives are design speculation and should not be read as an approved modification or established structural capacity.
