A Dutch armored-cruiser design with 9.4-inch guns

A brief Dutch design comment points to the continuing appeal of an armored cruiser larger and more heavily armed than treaty-standard heavy cruisers.

Notes

A proposed Dutch modern armored cruiser combined somewhat stronger protection with 9.4-inch guns instead of the usual 8-inch heavy-cruiser battery. The proposal shows that the armored-cruiser concept remained attractive even though many promising designs never reached construction. It sits between ordinary treaty cruisers and the much larger cruiser types discussed later in the video. The design is one example of navies exploring the force-structure gap between cruisers and capital ships.
