The French destroyer Dunois struck a mine and sank while escorting a merchant ship or troop transport in February 1915. A few months later, Austro-Hungarian U-4 torpedoed and damaged the British light cruiser HMS Dublin. Neither action required a fleet engagement, yet each reduced or interrupted Allied escort strength in the Adriatic. Together, the losses show Kleinkrieg working through accumulated repair demands and interruptions as well as famous sinkings.

Mines and U-4 keep pressure on Allied escorts
A mine sinks the French destroyer Dunois, and U-4 later damages HMS Dublin as small weapons continue to disrupt larger Allied forces.
