The command team behind a drone strike

Major drone operations involve pilots, supervising officers, legal advisers, and command staffs rather than a lone operator.

Notes

A major drone is rarely controlled by one junior operator making an isolated decision. Two people may fly the aircraft while an officer supervises, a legal adviser reviews the action, and a wider command staff watches the same feeds. Intelligence agencies need their own programs because armed services are reluctant to hand over assets for which they remain accountable. When agencies do participate, military officers of comparable authority are normally present. The structure is deliberately legalistic and distributes observation across several people. It can reduce impulsive action, but it cannot guarantee that the group will interpret incomplete information correctly.
