The book's Plan Z list prompts a short argument about warship classification. Deutschland and Lützow are treated as heavy cruisers rather than battleships or pocket battleships. The German term Panzerschiff, or armoured ship, receives more weight than the English-language nickname. Role, official terminology, and popular reputation can therefore produce competing labels for the same warship.
