A destroyer attack exploits a gap but risks encirclement

A destroyer pack reaches threatening torpedo range through an opening, but the attack leaves the small ships surrounded by heavier forces.

Notes

Entering a pack of destroyers is judged suicidal because short-range torpedoes can overturn a battleship's firepower advantage. The simulated destroyers find a gap and force a response. Their attack has a tactical logic, but it leaves them inside the surrounding battlecruiser force with nothing in their hulls able to withstand heavy-gun fire. The episode shows both the threat and fragility of a close torpedo attack: geometry can create the chance, but an escape route still matters.
