A destroyer-led Mediterranean supports an Indian Ocean reserve

Cruisers and destroyers handle the quieter Mediterranean while modern capital ships wait where they can surge east or west.

Notes

With Axis battlefleet pressure reduced, destroyers and cruisers can carry much of the continuing Mediterranean workload. Modern battleships and carriers need not sit simultaneously in that theater and the Far East; they can wait in the Indian Ocean as a mobile reserve. The location reassures Australia and regional allies without presenting Japan with a permanent battlefleet at Singapore. It preserves the ability to surge east while keeping a rapid route back to the Mediterranean.
