The destroyer-led second Force K

The second Force K used its destroyers and torpedoes aggressively, with the Didos stepping back into a supporting role.

Notes

Force K's change in composition brought a different tactical emphasis. Tribal-class and other large destroyers were approaching small-cruiser capability, while the compact Arethusas sat near the opposite side of the same design boundary. In the 1942 formation the destroyers supplied the leading offensive power and the Didos stepped back into support. Their prominent torpedo armament reinforced an aggressive night-raiding style designed to close quickly and deliver decisive damage.
