Parker leaders introduce coordinated director firing

An early destroyer director system let guns work together, with the approach later adopted in the V and W classes.

Notes

The choice of Parker in place of the proposed Fisher name is attributed to Admiral Peter Parker's reputation for gunnery. The Parker class was the first destroyer class to receive the new director-firing system. Its equipment was simpler than that fitted to battleships. Coordinated control allowed the guns to work together instead of relying entirely on separate local laying. The system was subsequently adopted in the V and W classes after testing on the leaders.
