Argentina intended Bethlehem Steel 4-inch guns and 21-inch torpedo tubes for the boats. Germany substituted its own guns and six 500 mm torpedo tubes because the specified weapons were unavailable. The ships could also carry 24 mines and had a complement of 104. The combination retained a useful torpedo and minelaying capability despite the changes from the original order.
