Destroyer guns on a cruiser hull

The proposed refit swaps six-inch cruiser guns for 4.7-inch destroyer weapons, high-angle AA, pom-poms, torpedoes, smoke, and radar.

Notes

The core design uses ten 4.7-inch guns in twin mounts, four-inch high-angle guns, pom-poms, half-inch AA, and retained torpedoes. The smaller weapons and ammunition weigh less than a restored six-inch battery while supporting a destroyer-leader or fighting-escort role. Torpedoes and smoke give the ships a counter-surface option, and radar could be fitted as the equipment entered service. Destroyer components and otherwise underused yard space make the 1938-39 conversion more plausible.
