A ship sent on a remote operation must either repair itself comprehensively or rely on a logistics network with overlapping routes and capabilities. Destiny's thin chain of Stargates fails that test despite the ship's range, stellar recharging, and impressive systems. Its three shuttles offer little redundancy once attrition leaves only one operational. A main gun with a restricted arc and exposed secondary weapons also leaves a surprise attacker opportunities to disable them before use. Recessed mounts, protective shutters over vulnerable spaces, and other physical backups would reduce dependence on shields working perfectly every time.

Destiny and the logistics of deep exploration
Destiny is admired as a long-range exploration ship, but its thin support chain, limited shuttles, and exposed systems show why endurance requires resilient logistics.
